Night Out with Daphne and Peiying

Finally got the much-needed chance to carouse the night away at dbl 0 after so many hectic and stressful weeks in school. Although it was not ladies' night, we did not mind because booze there is cheap!

It was only 11pm, and the crowd was so pathetically sparse that we could see the floor ahead of us. Some unheard-of hip hop tunes were playing, but the dance floor was vacant except for two poseurs dancing away. Peiying had a disturbing stereotype about dbl 0 always being dominated by BLACK society members, and after many furtive glances, I started to think she was right. It was not like that in the past.

Peiying loves to take pictures wherever she goes!

Played silly finger games and guessing games while guzzling housepours, shots and beer. We were giggling hysterically and I felt myself slowly slipping into a trance-like state. Just then, Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' came on and we zipped to the dance floor in exhilaration. Just had to shake my hips!

Pumping alcohol is the agenda for the night

Ironically, the more I danced, the more inebriated I became, to the extent that when I was whisked away by someone to take a picture, all I remembered was a bright flash and a boy who showed me the picture we took (but I didn't know what I was seeing). After a while, we went to catch a breather at the bar, and some guy chatted us up. According to Daphne (the next day), I actually introduced myself as Daphne, and when I heard Nelly Furtado's 'Promiscuous' playing, I shrieked and immediately dragged the two of them back to the dance floor, leaving the poor boy wondering about my outburst and our sudden departure. Again, I had no recollection about what we talked about and had to have Daphne to remind me.

More beer and we flopped down on a couch nearby. According to Daphne, I had the audacity to get rid of the 'Reserved' sign by throwing it under the couch, and I could not believe that I actually did that. Nevertheless, we were still chased away from the 'reserved' couch and thereafter, it was back to the dance floor.

Frolicking on the couch (I didn't even know Daphne was pasting her face against mine)

More groovy songs, more dancing, until the lights came on. The DJ stopped the music, and announced for us to cooperate with the police. We groaned and watched the policemen wearing windbreakers with 'POLICE' emblazoned on their backs walking around and scrutinizing every patron there. As the lights came on, I looked around and realised ... we were indeed surrounded by BLACK society members.

We were getting impatient from waiting for the lights to be off, and we (as well as many others) decided to leave. It was such a spoiler. The only thing I could remember was puking into the tall grasses every few steps along the dark eerie path that led to home.
